I started reading one of Fromm’s book, Fear of Freedom. I’ve only gone through the first chapter, but I realize again that he is one of the few “rational” thinkers (or very good observers of the human society) of our times. The book is on the “individuation” process of a human; how one emerges to find one’s individuality, and how one should interact with one’s surroundings afterwards. He sometimes mentions this himself, but this process (or cycles) of dependence/independence does not only apply to an individual. It probably applies to all the social structures that human is involved. I need to think more on this, but this is another very fascinating subject.
